Raleigh, N.C. — Advance Community Health announced today that Dr. Lisa Vendeland Ehrler, DO, Director of OB/GYN and Women’s Services, has been appointed by Josh Stein, Governor of North Carolina, to serve on the North Carolina Medical Board.

Dr. Ehrler’s appointment places a community health center physician on one of the state’s most influential healthcare regulatory bodies. The North Carolina Medical Board oversees physician licensing and helps ensure safe, high-quality medical care across the state. Her selection brings the perspective of frontline, community-based healthcare into statewide decision-making that affects providers and patients throughout North Carolina.

With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Ehrler is recognized for her leadership in improving maternal health outcomes and reducing perinatal morbidity and mortality. She is board-certified in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatal Mental Health and currently leads OB/GYN and Women’s Services at Advance Community Health in Southeast Raleigh, where she developed a comprehensive program focused on improving outcomes through coordinated, compassionate, patient-centered care.

“Serving on the NC Board of Medicine is a very exciting opportunity,” said Dr. Ehrler. “It will allow me to be a progressive and proactive leader, helping find solutions to emerging healthcare issues, supporting our providers statewide, helping more patients, and expanding the vision and mission of healthcare. By helping to ensure safe and effective care, every patient, every time, we can meet the needs of our statewide community and improve outcomes.”

Dr. Ehrler completed her residency in 2000 in the Henry Ford-Bi-County Hospital System in Detroit through the MSUCOM Statewide Campus System and graduated from the Harvard Medical Leaders Institute in 2024.

“Dr. Ehrler has dedicated her career to advancing women’s health and improving outcomes for families in our community,” said Scot McCray, CEO of Advance Community Health. “Her appointment to the North Carolina Medical Board ensures that the experiences of community-based providers and the patients we serve are represented in shaping the future of healthcare across our state.”
