COVID-19 BASICS

What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2. Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people can become severely ill. Although most people with COVID-19 get better within weeks of illness, some people experience post-COVID conditions.

How is COVID-19 spread?

The COVID-19 virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols.

How can I protect myself and others?

The best way to protect yourself and others is to get vaccinated and take necessary precautions such as staying at least 6 feet apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently.

What type of testing does Advance Community Health offer?

Advance Community Health is currently offering PCR testing, which requires a gentle swab of the nose by one of our trained professionals.

How long will it take for me to get my results back?

Results are available within 48-72 hours.

COVID-19 VACCINE

Is the COVID-19 vaccine safe?

Yes, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are very safe! Both vaccines are authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and excellent at preventing serious or fatal cases of COVID-19. The risk of serious side effects associated with these vaccines is very small.

Which vaccine does Advance Community Health offer?

Advance Community Health currently offer the following vaccines:
Moderna Vaccine: We currently offer the first dose, second dose and booster shot for individuals ages 18 years and older.
Pfzier Vaccine: For children ages 5-11 ONLY.

How many doses of the vaccine do I need?

The Moderna vaccine requires two doses, at least 28 days apart. The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses, at least 21 days apart. The second dose of the vaccine should not be administered earlier than the recommended interval.

Do I need a booster shot?

The CDC recommends receiving a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot at least 6 months after receiving all recommended doses or completing a mix and match COVID-19 vaccine series.

How long do I have to wait to receive other vaccinations after receiving my COVID-19 vaccine?

You can not receive any other vaccination within 14 days of receiving either dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Can I receive the vaccine if I have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

If you have come into contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 within the prior 14 days, it is requested that you get tested for COVID-19 prior to scheduling a vaccine appointment.
