The event brought together community leaders, elected officials, donors, and members of the Advance team to commemorate a significant milestone in expanding accessible, high-quality healthcare in Wake County. The new facility saw its first patients on April 7.
The new location was made possible by a $1 million capital grant from the Wake County Board of Commissioners, demonstrating a shared commitment to innovative, patient-centered care.
The celebration included remarks from Board Chair Rosa Navarro and members of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, including Vice Chair Donald Mial and Commissioner Shinica Thomas.
“It’s clear that Advance Community Health is dedicated to serving the people who are most vulnerable and often ignored. With the upgrades made here, Advance Axcess will provide healthcare for 2,500 unique patients, and an additional 2,000 walk-in patients. That’s a lot of lives changed for the better,” said Shinica Thomas, Wake County Board of Commissioners.
Urgent care centers improve community health by providing fast, affordable treatment for non-emergency conditions, without long waits or high emergency room costs. Advance Axcess helps fill that gap with services for colds, flu, minor injuries, dental emergencies, and more. An on-site pharmacy adds convenience by allowing patients to get care and prescriptions in one visit.
“This is my community. Having access and being able to redirect patients from going to the hospital, is possible by Advance Axcess being here,” said Rosa Navarro, Advance Community Health Board of Trustees Chair.
Guests were invited to tour the new facility and meet the Advance Axcess care team which includes:
- Malachi Owens, Practice Manager, Advance Axcess
- Sadonna Cofield, Nurse Practitioner, Advance Axcess
- Victoria Harris, Physician Assistant, Advance Axcess
- Christa Fleming, Physician Assistant, Advance Axcess
