Our growth
Over the 1900s
1972
Wake Health Services is established. The Wake Health Services administrative office began operating on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, NC.
Jul 1973
Tarboro Road Family Medicine is established and first patients are seen.
Oct 1973
A second facility, the Falstaff Road Office, is established in Raleigh, NC and begins operations.
1974
Originally housed on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, NC, the Wake Health Services Administrative office is relocated to Haworth Drive in Raleigh, NC.
Apr 1975
Apex Family Medicine is established and begins operating on Hunter Street in Apex, NC.
Jul 1977
The Falstaff Road office and Wake Health Services Administrative office is relocated to Wade Avenue in Raleigh, NC.
Oct 1991
The Falstaff Road office is relocated to Jones Street in Raleigh, NC.
Mar 1992
Apex Family Medicine is relocated to its current location on S. Salem Street in Apex, NC.
Jan 1996
Wake Health Services acquires Burroughs Pediatrics.
May 1997
Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine is established as a result of the merging of Wake Health Services Tarboro Road and Jones Street practices.
1997
Wake Health Services Administrative office is relocated into the vacated medical practice on Tarboro Road in Raleigh, NC.
Dec 1998
The Horizon Healthcare for the Homeless Program, originally located in a mobile van at the Salvation Army, moves to the Cornerstone building in downtown Raleigh, NC.
Over the 2000s
May 2000
Southern Wake Family Medicine practice opens in Wake County’s Southern Regional Center in Fuquay-Varina.
Dec 2000
The Horizon Healthcare for the Homeless Program, becomes Horizon Health Center after Wake Health Services WHSI assumes full responsibility for the medical practice.
Apr 2002
Burroughs Pediatrics is relocated to 2620 New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, NC and renamed New Bern Ridge Pediatrics.
2002
Summer
New Bern Ridge Dental Center opens and begins operations at the facility located at 2620 New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, NC. The New Bern Ridge Dental Center previously served as the home of Wake Smiles, a volunteer program sponsored by the Raleigh/Wake County Dental Society. This program is now housed under the Salvation Army.
May 2008
Wake Health Services begins providing services in Franklin County and establishes Franklin Community Health Services in Franklinton, NC.
June 2009
Franklin Community Health Services moves to its permanent location in Louisburg, NC.
Mar 2011
Horizon Health Center is relocated to Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine.
Aug 2015
Wake Health Services becomes Advance Community Health! The name was changed to distinguish it from government human service agencies and to represent communities served beyond Wake County. The new name reflects the expanded offerings and transformation of the organization over the past 40 years. It speaks to the level of quality and commitment as it works to advance the healthcare of the community.
2015
Advance Community Health expands access to health care with the establishment of the Southeast Raleigh Medical Campus, a new 35,000 sq. ft, $13 million investment.
Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine, the Horizon Health Center program, New Bern Ridge Pediatrics and the New Bern Ridge Dental Center, moves into our new Southeast Raleigh Medical Campus and becomes part of Advance Community Health!
2016
Advance Community Health starts serving patients at the Women’s Center of Wake County. As part of our outreach program, we serve patients at the South Wilmington Street Center and at the Women’s Center of Wake County.
2017
Advance Community Health opens Cary at Dorcas Plaza location in Cary, NC in partnership with Dorcas Ministries. This practice was made possible through funding from the Town of Cary, Wake County, and Square 1 Bank.
